Peggy Bundy Married...with Children

It was all about bonbons and daytime television for Peggy Bundy. She often neglected her children’s hunger pangs and frequently coerced her husband Al into giving her every last dollar he earned as a shoe salesman so she could go out and buy gaudy clothing and, well, more bonbons. But actress Katey Sagal’s character earned the affection of television audiences everywhere for her unflappable mound of red hair and her willingness to try to please her kids and husband — but only if she really had to.
Livia Soprano, The Sopranos

Sons are often forced to place their mothers in nursing homes. And most mothers do not put a hit out on their sons for doing so. But after Tony puts his ma in a “retirement community,” Livia slyly tries to take revenge on him, telling Uncle Junior that Tony has been seeing a psychiatrist and possibly leaking secrets of the family’s Mob-related misdeeds. Tony hears about it and does everything he can not to physically assault her at the end of Season 1. Tony’s mother then becomes “dead to him” until Season 3, when the actress who plays Livia, Nancy Marchand, dies and is written out of the series.
