The Morning After: Running for Its Life

This is the sad time of the fall when a TV critic has to decide that, good or bad, certain new shows have dim enough chances that there’s not time to follow them. Fortunately[?] this year the new fall crop is weak enough that that isn’t such a heartbreaker in most cases. But I’m glad—and therefore sad—to report that last night’s Running Wilde was an improvement on the first two episodes. The sitcom is scoring more frequently with its throwaway lines (Fa’ad’s offering Puddle a glass of “forget juice” in the vodka cave, for instance) and the episode wisely leaned more on Keri Russell to better establish her character.

My gut and the Nielsens tell me that any turnaround probably comes too late. But on the bright side, the episode built a plot around someone scoring a fake job to scam an oil company, and we all know that’s the way to stay on the air at Fox!
