Baby Fever! Anderson Cooper Vs. Congressman On "Terror Baby" Claim

As a father of two, I can certify that there is every reason to be terrified of babies. They deny you sleep. They bleed you into bankruptcy. They spout effluvia in every direction imaginable. They are explosive, people.

So I suppose it was inevitable that the U.S. would eventually experience a Summer of Baby Fear. Politicians advocating the repeal or revision of the 14th Amendment have been warning of the danger of “anchor babies”: infants born to illegal immigrants in order to stake a claim on U.S. citizenship.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.), however, has raised the stakes, warning of “terror babies,” the littlest sleeper agents, allegedly being born in the U.S. to claim citizenship, then return as terrorists decades hence. His purported evidence for the claim: conversations with an unnamed former FBI agent, and a woman he met on a plane. Last night, Anderson Cooper hosted Rep. Gohmert on CNN to ask him to substantiate the claim, and the showdown was pretty breathtaking:

Don’t be fooled, people. They only look cute.

    Glee Watch: NYADA, NYADA, NYADA

Spoilers for the season finale of Glee below:

One beef I often have with Glee episodes is that they move too fast, go in too many directions, try to cram in too much at once. You might say that about “Goodbye,” the season 3 finale, but in this case that approach seemed about right. It’s an episode about graduation, and graduation is something that, no matter how much you plan for and anticipate it, still goes too fast. Graduating is something you do, but in the moment it feels like something that happens to you, suddenly and all at once, like going over a waterfall.

I am really quite curious to see where our country goes in the next 2-10 years. These fear-mongers scare me to death. The lies they spew don’t scare me, but the fact that some great percentage of our citizens believe this trash terrifies me.

Celebrities can sue trash-mags for telling lies about their personal lives. Can we sue these idiots for essentially yelling “fire” in a theater?

Seriously, the dialogue (if you can really call it that) has gotten out of control.

Kudos to AC for telling that fool to shut the h@ll up!

Umm – can you say whack job? and how rude was he!

But I totally agree with you pbmama. Unfortunately, it’s effective otherwise they wouldn’t continue to do it.

Louie Gohmert, today’s best argument for forced sterilization. What a complete idiot.

This interview (can we even call it an interview?) makes me cringe with disgust. Anderson is far too smart to give this man as much time as he was given. He should have ended the interview as soon as he realized the man was on a mission to spread lies rather than have an actual dialogue. The congressman’s rude behavior and ranting just shows America how idiotic he is.

Who was that guy that was concerned about Jewish Nits during the early 1930′s?Who believed his rants?Yes indeed this is kooky…

The fear mongers of America scare me much more than the Islamic radicals. They are a threat to our freedoms.

This may be the closest we’ll ever see of someone nearing a psychotic break. This man was not in control and could not stop his idiotic rambling. There is some kind of underlying psychotic process working. Of course he doesn’t see himself the way he appeared on the film clip. He sees himself as a savior of the United States. We never know when our elected officials are so close to losing touch with reality. If Anderson Cooper had kept him on camera for another half hour Louie G. would have been a rubber room candidate.

Yeah, Republicans Debbie Riddle and Louie Gohmert both sounded like idiots on the terror baby stuff until these pictures of Chinese anchor baby terror tots were released this weekend. When you check these out, you may feel differently about Gohmert, China and the 14th Amendment.

Read this article. It is VERY FUNNY.
