“O.K., you big hunk of a man, come and get me!” That’s a line from Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, which features a teenage girl with psychic powers who goes all Carrie on ski-masked killer Jason Voorhees when he comes back to life again. (She’s not the same girl who delivers that stellar line. That girl dies.) The first Friday the 13th (1980) is a cult classic. After that, it’s pretty much downhill. Seven more Jason films were released before the ’80s were even over, including one suspiciously subtitled Jason Takes Manhattan just five years after the Muppets took Manhattan in their own feature film. Real original, Jason. 2009 saw the release of a listless reboot of the series.
