The wait is over for those of you without one of those little DirecTV pizzas stuck to your house: the fourth season of Friday Night Lights returns to NBC tonight, and it’s worth the wait. I reviewed the season (based on the first few episodes) back in the fall, and I found that—while you might be rightly suspicious that the show could keep the magic going with many key players leaving—moving Coach Taylor to a new, underdog school reinvigorated and in many ways deepened the show.
I’m not sure yet what I’ll do about blogging the show. I decided back in the fall, based on an unscientific survey of the readers here, not to review individual episodes until the NBC run. I’d like to think that I could do weekly writeups now, but like a new coach at a high school, better to underpromise and overdeliver. For this week, read my review, and feel free to use this post for your comments on tonight’s season premiere. Clear eyes, full hearts, &c.!
