Pre-Lostwatch: Hand in Your Buffs, We Have a Merger!

ABC
LOST - "The Last Recruit" - Alliances are forged and broken as the Locke and Jack camps merge, on "Lost," TUESDAY, APRIL 20 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/MARIO PEREZ) JEFF FAHEY, YUNJIN KIM, JORGE GARCIA, EMILIE DE RAVIN, JOSH HOLLOWAY, EVANGLINE LILLY

SPOILER ALERT: Actually, I couldn’t spoil much about this week’s Lost, “The Last Recruit,” for you if I wanted to; I haven’t seen it yet and if my schedule holds, I probably won’t until sometime Wednesday at the earliest. (I can only say that based on the advance ABC logline, “Alliances are forged and broken as the Locke and Jack camps merge,” the Survivor parallels look to be especially strong this week.)

However, TIME’s John Cloud, who’s an avid Lost watcher when he’s not writing cover stories, has agreed to step in and write a post. Look for it overnight, and in the meantime, let the pre-discussion begin!

Spoilers for the season finale of Glee below:

One beef I often have with Glee episodes is that they move too fast, go in too many directions, try to cram in too much at once. You might say that about “Goodbye,” the season 3 finale, but in this case that approach seemed about right. It’s an episode about graduation, and graduation is something that, no matter how much you plan for and anticipate it, still goes too fast. Graduating is something you do, but in the moment it feels like something that happens to you, suddenly and all at once, like going over a waterfall.

Can someone please tell me who “The Last Recruit” is? Although the early part of this season was creatively so-so, and I didn’t agree with the introduction of new storylines and characters in the final season, I think things have turned around – more analysis here: http://thesmogger.com/2010/04/06/has-lost-found-its-footing/

A question while we’re waiting for tonight: Wasn’t the point of starting the season in the winter to run it straight through without interruption? Next week’s broadcast is a rerun. What happened?

I thought I had heard that the next two weeks were reruns. Can anyone confirm or deny? That makes my heart really sad. I am expecting tonight’s episode to be superawesome to make up for it.

According to the dates on Wikipedia there is only 1 week of reruns after this episode. But on the bright side, we only have to wait 5 Lost-less days before the Finale.

Yeah I agree, but its really nothing new, they’ve been doing this the last couple years too. Just to make sure ABC can cram as many new airings in sweeps months I guess.

Oh and I agree with Kemper in the last Lostwatch, that the new LOST promo with Gene Wilder’s creepy Willy Wonka tunnel song is awesome. I suffered through basketball on Saturday just to see it in its full HD glory.
