This is an odd performance to judge, because the things that didn’t work about it didn’t really have to do with Didi’s voice. She’s a strong enough vocalist, but while she claimed to have a strong emotional connection to the song, her performance came off stagey. Seacrest did a noble job at the end of trying to wheedle an emotional story out of her, but if you have to explain your connection to a song you just sang, it’s like having to explain a kiss to your date.
