The Daily Beast is reporting that America’s favorite couple, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, having finagled their way into a White House party and the national headlines last fall, will in fact be regular stars on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of D.C., the reality show they were auditioning for when they crashed the news.
Isn’t Bravo rewarding/encouraging bad, if not dangerous behavior? Why, of course not—according to the report, Bravo was “relieved” to learn that the Salahis are not being prosecuted, so evidently that makes everything just fine.
(Update: The Washington Post’s Lisa DeMoraes also reports the Salahis’ casting, but holds out the possibility that they may yet be prosecuted, suggesting Bravo may be awaiting that decision before scheduling the show. This not being Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog, I will not speculate on the likelihood of that happening.)
Bravo is not commenting, but the Salahis have long maintained that they are innocent and have been misunderstood. Naturally, reports the Daily Beast, Bravo’s parent NBC Universal is arranging for them to become better understood through a coordinated publicity push on its programs, including Access Hollywood and the Today show.
In other news, NBC still considers the Today show a news program.
