Robert Culp, 1930-2010

Actor Robert Culp died yesterday after a fall at age 79. I’ll leave it to critics of the Baby Boomer era to eulogize his work on the supercool ’60s espionage show I Spy. My more personal memory of him is for his work as Agent Bill Maxwell on the ’70s superhero comedy-drama The Greatest American Hero. Hero, in its way was a sort of caped ancestor to Chuck (which, it probably goes without saying, also owes plenty to the stylistic suavity of the likes of I Spy). R.I.P. to an actor who (like Peter Graves, who passed before him) found a place in the hearts of multiple generations.
