Gabourey Sidibe—the Precious star who was also the most delightful new presence on the Oscar red carpet this year—is joining Showtime’s The Big C, a self-described “dark comedy” about cancer starring Laura Linney. Judging by the production still already available, this was in the works before the Oscars, but you can’t fault Showtime for the timing.
In other movie-folks-joining-pay-TV news, Nick Nolte is reportedly in talks to join Dustin Hoffman on HBO’s David Milch / Michael Mann horse-racing drama Luck. Milch is all about the redemption, so it makes perfect sense.
