NBC’s comedies were in reruns last night, but that doesn’t mean there was no new comedy. FX’s Archer aired a new episode last night, and although I won’t discuss the specific episode—because I’m not sure if FX has been airing episodes in the order I received them—I can say that as I watched the five episodes I was sent in advance, I saw that this spy spoof could easily become one of my favorite comedies of the year. You might not think that an animated sitcom would be as dependent on the chemistry of the ensemble—since you don’t actually have actors physically interacting—but the big charm of this show is how quickly the cast gels and the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter et al. ping-pong off each other.
