Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have declared on their website that there will be no third season of Flight of the Conchords. While I would love it if they could continue to make a full slate of hilarious episodes, complete with songs, every year, the show was clearly incredibly labor-intensive, and the strain clearly showed in the second season. It’s probably better remembered as a short-lived, evanescent, eccentric jewel.
Thanks to FOTC for the seasons we got. And props to them for being the rare entertainers with a successful (“hit” is probably not quite the word) show, an open invitation from HBO to do more, and turning it down anyway. Anyone else in TV you’d like to see quit while they’re ahead?
