Yeah, good point Poniewozik. Beck believes in “absurdities” like limiting the power of government, protecting the U.S. Constitution, and capitalism. Essentially all the things our founding fathers fought for. Comrad Obama’s “progressive movement” just fears Glenn Beck because he exposes their true marxist agenda, so they try to portray him as some lunatic to demerit his arguments. JP, I believe a couple weeks ago I said you had a sweet life being a TV critic b/c of the fun with roll outs. After seeing the lovely responses you get simply for stating that a program was shown on t.v., I take it back.
On the bright side, your post helped me learn something new- 2/3 of Beck fans spell as poorly he does! That, and you are actually a liberal daaa.

With this kind of fair minded reporting, is it any wonder that Time has no subscribers and CNN has no viewers. As usual the “State press” tries to convince the simple minded (aka Porgressives) that those like Beck who disagree are absurd. While those who know the Constitution and the priciples this country was founded on are not so easily duped. Try reading some history and get a clue Poniewozik.

Come on Murph, I was counting you as the Beck fan who could spell well. I agree with you that spelling is overrated, especially on blogs where we all make mistakes. However, confusing what Obama is trying to do with communism (or socialism, or fascism, or any other ‘ism’ besides centrism) is less forgiveable. Lord help you people when any actual communists come along- you won’t even recognize them.

Wow what a shock, another liberal who demonizes someone for making a buck, another liberal who condemns capitalism, as if it is somehow wrong for Beck to (gasp) PROFIT from his book and radio show! Oh my GOD How could he??? What a hidden agenda!

I suppose you think Beck should just give all his money away that he earns from his book and radio show, right?

What you don’t understand is that Beck believes in capitalism, therefore it is logical for him to be a successful entrepreneur and make money. He would be up front about that, it isn’t some dark secret that he is profiting from his publicity. Yes, he is making a lot of money by voicing his political opinions. That is called being an entrepreneur. He believes people SHOULD be entrepreneurs. He LIKES capitalism. That isn’t phony, it’s actually very genuine and integral. He LIVES his philosophy. He is living the American Dream.

I’m sure this is all going over your head, that’s okay. Just keep sticking to the left; making money is evil, capitalism bad, socialism good, punish the successful and reward laziness and incompetence. And if someone happens to make a buck, they must have a hidden agenda. Wow.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have been doing a little research and Beck claims to be an entertainer. I personally have seen him say this on his show on FOX. So why get so upset over a little comedy? Beck seems capable of dishing out the comedy relief at others, why get so upset when he is targeted by some comics?

Part of the problem is that it is hard to take someone seriously when all they are capable of is insulting people and acting over dramatic. But it does put butts in the seats and a dollar in his pocket so I don’t think he cares.

Regarding the communist comment, well, what should I think? Obama was mentored by a communist as a youth, he worked with Acorn for several years (Acorn was birthed from a socialist reform movement in the 1960′s). He is quoted as wanting to bring about “redistributive change” in America and constantly preaches sacrifice and service for the common good. He appointed a man who believes in censorship and abolishing the 2nd Amendment as his regulatory czar. He appointed a man who believes in censorship (Fairness Doctrine) as his Diversity Czar. And in 9 months he has orchestrated a government takeover of the banks, the auto industry, and an attempt on our health care system. Maybe it is actually YOU who can’t see the handwriting on the wall. If it looks, acts, and walks like a duck, at what point do you say “hey dammit that’s a duck!”? You know?

I should also add that just because Obama hasn’t completely “Obamunized” us yet doesn’t mean there isn’t more to come. There was a great quote, I can’t remember the author, but it was to the effect that if you take away people’s liberties all in one fell swoop there will surely be an uprising, but if you do it systematically little by little it will gradually become accepted until one day the people wake up and have nothing left. That is what I foresee over the next 4 years.

The great part about fox news is that you dont even have to decide for yourself what to think about the news. They do all that hard stuff for you. And if you disagree with there brilliant minds, then your wrong, because everybody should think the same! Right?? Are we not a nation of blank slates waiting for further instructions from our favorite cable news program?

Murphy, by your logic most presidents we’ve had have been communists. Did you know that George W Bush appointed an AG that was so big on censorship that he actually altered the appearance of lady justice? Did you know that Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II all appointed czars as well? Did you know that our founding fathers were so into ‘sacrifice and service for the common good’ that ‘e pluribus unum’ is actually printed on our money? Go ahead and check- it’s really there! Did you know that the takeover of the banks was actually started by that noted commie George W Bush? Did you know that large parts of our health system have been socialized since the 1930s? Did you know that Obama has repeatedly said he’d like to get the government out of banking and the auto industry as soon as those companies can stand on their own feet?
Simply put, Obama is not a communist, not even close. His big changes are actually small tweeks to structures which have existed in our government for decades. The fact that people are getting so riled up about them now continues to flabbergast me. Where these people were when the Patriot Act (a document which has actual effects on our civil liberties as opposed to figments of the imagination such as death panels) was being signed, I will never know.

You all pretty much suck at spelling…and at argument. Shame on all of you for stooping to name calling and obscenities as support for your views…

That Beck has a much greater share of the market does say a great deal about the level of distrust Americans have for those folks who are supposed to be representing us…If you have been paying close attention, you must have noted that there is not a dime’s worth of difference between any of our self-serving, obfuscating politicians…they sell us what we want to hear when they want votes and we dupes buy it each and every time.They go back to Washington to waste money and accomplish nothing, and we call one another names until the next election…The enemy is us…Can any of you spell ‘term limits’…? The guys already turned around the recession, boosted our standings in the Global community, and nearing completion of a huge health care overhaul, and all you and Glenn baby Beck want to do is look for something to whine about? Name one person you think could have done a better job, or else suck it up! Obviously he’s not perfect but to paint him as someone who’s trying to take advantage of us all, well, that’s just playing politics as usual. As for G.W you can dump on him all you want. He did more for creating distrust for politicians, and I think that attitude of distrust among people has just carried over to this next administration. FWIW, I’m glad to see Beck’s prominence. Unlike some of his conservative brothers in bloviation, he has the charisma of a mollusk. Yes, I’m sure that he has some fans, but he’s not going to make a difference to political results and seems headed before long for a Morton Downey Jr.-style flameout, in front of which many of us will happily toast many marshmallows.
