The Morning After: That Which Was Not American Idol

I’ll be honest: I watched last night’s Fringe while simultaneously finishing up my American Idol reviews. If there are any references to the Pattern in my assessment of Allison Iraheta, I apologize. To the 33% of my attention I was focusing on it, however, it didn’t seem to need a separate Fringe Watch, so feel free to dissect it here. And did anyone catch the NCIS-spinoff’s backdoor pilot last night? Is this the first time we’ve referenced NCIS on Tuned In?

Pretty standard episode, not having a mythology feel and looking like a typical MOTW show. I’m already tired of the episode opening where we think the person on screen is the baddie but then he turns out to be the victim. Introduce Spock already! Possibly singing the Bilbo Baggins song with Walter. Now that would enliven things up.

Pretty standard episode of the week, though my attention was divided by trying to view everything in relation to last week’s episode. I never noticed how much grey & black Olivia wears, and with the mirrored exercise segments of last week, it is an open question on just how much ZFT training Olivia subconsciously remembers (and practices).

Since we are moving into endgame mode, I will reiterate my beliefs: William Bell is the writer of the ZFT manifesto- as Walter’s lab partner, he clearly had access to his typewriter, after all. Bell is from the parallel dimension, but loyal to “ours”. Astrid is the parallel dimension’s mole. Not quite sure what Peter’s deal is- he was obviously altered as a kid, but is it just ZFT training or something more? Olivia’s family subplot just gets too much screentime to not matter shortly – probably ZFT kidnaps Olivia’s niece for training.
