It was Songs of the Rat Pack Era tonight on American Idol, so that meant… Jamie Foxx as mentor? Because he played Ray Charles in a movie? Why not Don Cheadle — at least he played Sammy Davis Jr.! Why didn’t they get Joaquin Phoenix for country night? Foxx is at least amusing, delivering some Tracy Jordan-esque lines like “he’s not trying to sing the Throat Olympics” to help pad out a full hour with only five performances.
How did the songs for swingin’ lovers measure up? I’m guessing Matt goes home this week, though Allison would not surprise me. And I’ll guess Kris for the last bottom-three spot, although this could be the week Adam gets his first bottom three scare for being a little too, er, “theatrical” for the Idol audience.
