The Morning After: Basketball Jones

Not a lot that was either spoiler-worthy or comment-worthy in last night’s How I Met Your Mother, except to say that it may have been as close as possible to being a statistically average episode of HIMYM: ’80s movies references (check), Canadian jokes (check), a challenge (check) and a lesson about growing up (check). For me, the star of the show is quickly becoming Cobie Smulders’, and especially Alyson Hannigan’s, pregnancies and the elaborate lengths to which HIMYM goes to cover them up. That’s not a basketball—that’s Alyson Hannigan’s painted belly!

[Update: No coverup anymore for Hannigan, who just gave birth to a bouncing basket— er, baby girl!]

I couldn’t agree more about the pregnancies! For the last month (and a half?) the most consistent laughs have come from what the ladies are standing behind/wearing. Has anyone read an interview from Thomas/Bays where they talk about it? ‘Cause I want to think that the belly-hiding is intentionally humorous.

I continue to give this show a chance, and I continue to be completely unimpressed by it. I didn’t laugh once the entire show.. truly. Some of the worst comedy writing on TV if you ask me.

Don’t forget one telepathic conversation, and inappropriate behavior in front of small children.

I loved Barney’s rave outfit. Truly, truly awful.

If you can’t laugh at a Teenwolf montage, well then, I’m not sure this show is for you. Also, thank goodness we were only threatened with more douchey architecture from Ted.

@tyrantking I dunno bout this.. Family Guy parodies old TV/Movies constantly and I find those to be hilarious and witty. For some reason this show does absolutely nothing for me, old TV/Movies references withstanding..
