I’d complained before that Salma Hayek’s character in 30 Rock was not adding much to the show, so credit where it’s due: last night was the first episode in which she really seemed to be a fully contributing part of the ensemble. (And not just because of all the weirdly timely boob jokes, either.) From her meditation on the McFlurry to her remonstrating Jack for offending “the patron saint of judgemental statues,” everything worked in the Jack-and-Elisa plot. I feel they’re still getting a handle on Drew, though; while the deathbed-confession was brilliant, he seemed to get over it awfully quickly by the end of the episode. How’s the star casting working out for you?
