My review of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, which debuts a week from tonight, is in this week’s print edition of TIME. Short version: I’ll be watching, but with reservations. Another short version: I’m impressed, but so far find myself admiring the show more than liking it. I’ve seen three episodes so far, and the two following the pilot (actually, the second and fourth episodes) represent a step forward and a step back, advancing the character development and the serial thriller plot, but underscoring some of my concerns about Dushku’s performance and a few general plausibility issues.
In any case, I’ll blog about the show in more depth after it actually debuts. Friday is becoming a busy night.
