Pole to Pole

Over the years, people have sometimes complimented me on my articles for Slate (when I was actually writing for Salon), mentioned my work in The New Yorker (for which I don’t work) or told me they read a book of mine (that I did not write). For all these incidents I can thank the insightful James Surowiecki and people’s tendency to think that all Polish (or at least Slavic) surnames look alike. Anyway, because of our accidental kinship I feel obligated to point out that the New Yorker’s business columnist, who is not me, now has a blog too. A good one. About business things. If he happens to blog any opinions about Lost, I take no responsibility for them.

    It could be because my work week is almost over, but the mischievous part of me wants to change my appearing name to James Surowiecki, just to see if anyone thinks my comments are yours. But that would take more effort than I have to spare, being the end of my work week.
