Project Runway: Greatest Hits Edition continues. In the first episode of season 5, the designers re-created the first challenge ever, making outfits from material from the grocery store. Last night, they based their work on “photos of inspiration” that they took around New York City, a la Andrae’s “gutter-water” dress from season 2.
None of the finished pieces, though, had anywhere near the impact of Andrae’s glittery winner, and it’s starting to look like this is a forgettable batch of contestants. My favorite, so far, is Leanne, who I would have given the prize last night for her tree-planter-inspired ensemble. She’s not so memorable, though, that I can keep myself from confusing her with Jennifer—the other plain-brown-haired woman—who I was hoping would go home just so that I would be able to keep them straight.
So far, though, the most memorable season 5 contestants stand out mainly for their catchphrases. And I’m afraid we’ll be hearing Suede talk about Suede, and Blayne wax -licious, for a while yet.
