Spoilers about the American Idol elimination coming up… after the break!

Well, do I know how to call them or do I know how to call them? Huh? What’s that? Ah, yes, actually it would appear that I don’t know how to call them. Other than correctly predicting an all-female bottom three, I missed last night’s elimination, in which the one woman I judged to be safe, Kristy Lee Cook, got her walking papers. It was a bit of a Michael Johns situation for me, in that I wasn’t surprised that she went home, I was only surprised about when she went home. As with Johns, I wouldn’t have been surprised had she gone home weeks ago, but why America ejected her this week, when she had one of her more not-bad performances, stumps me.

I guess that, if you accept the theory that we’re heading down to a Battle of the Davids, with the other major suspense being whether one of the women can dislodge Jason as third wheel, then the other contestants are close enough together that it’s basically a dice roll who goes home which week. If you have a better theory, I’d like to hear it. Were the country voters all busy doing something else Tuesday night?

Also: somebody out there in Idolland likes Elliot Yamin, no? Quite a bit of exposure he’s getting for a third-place finisher from two years ago.
