Brief thoughts on last night’s American Idol elimination coming up… after the break!

After last week, when Ramiele failed to make the bottom three after a pretty poor performance, I decided she was this year’s Jasmine Trias / Nikki McKibbin: there was no way she was going home before the final six. My decision was the kiss of death, as she went from bulletproof to homeward bound in a week. I can’t say she deserved to stay, but she was probably the victim of a week in which no one was really bad: with no obvious ejectee, the vote was probably based as much on performance in the season overall as on Tuesday’s performance.

I can, at least, take credit for calling Brooke White’s bottom-three scare. Otherwise, not much to say about last night’s elimination, except: Whose idea was it to add a call-in section to the results show? Was anyone out there thinking, “You know, American Idol would be perfect if it were only a little more like Larry King Live”?

[Update: Incidentally, what did Kristy need a “Kristy’s Seat” sign for anyway? Was she planning on getting up to go to the bathroom during the broadcast? I’m pretty sure that a bottom-three stool is one seat no one is too eager to steal.]
