TiVo to Provide YouTube Videos Directly to the Television
ALVISO, Calif., March 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — TiVo Inc.(Nasdaq: TIVO), the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), today announced an agreement with YouTube(TM) that will offer access to YouTube videos directly from the TV via a TiVo DVR. The service will be available later this year to broadband-connected subscribers with TiVo Series3(TM) DVRs, including the new TiVo HD.
Genius? Useless? I’m sure I’ll still do most of my YouTube watching on my computer, the way God intended, but there have definitely been times I wished I could easily pull up on online video using TiVo. It also eliminates one more reason for me to get AppleTV since I have a Series 3 TiVo.
Speaking of which, I feel a little guilty, as a TV critic and a Mac guy, for not having tried out Apple TV yet, but I haven’t yet seen the reason to commit the money or space. Any Apple TV users out there want to make the case for it?
