JPTV: What I'm Watching Tonight

New Hampshah, New Hampshah, New Hampshah. What can I say? I write for a newsmagazine. Lately my default channel for coverage of primary season has been MSNBC, because somewhere amid the gusher of overheated, high-grade hoo-hah that Chris Matthews spews any given night, there are usually a few bits of thought-provoking insight into the process of politics and the history of campaigns. It’s enjoyable to watch someone who enjoys what they do. On the other hand, it’s refreshing to see Keith Olbermann play the straight man to him, as the Countdown anger anchor [bloggian slip!] usually downshifts in deference to his geared-up colleague.

That said, I’m a flipper, and not just because it’s my job, and I’ll probably be all over the place tonight. Should I get sprung from the office in time to watch at home, I’ll try to catch some of Dan Rather anchoring his first primarycast for HDNet. (Not an option at the office; the TV I have here, I suspect, was probably the one TIME staffers watched the Nixon resignation around.) Also, after 11 p.m., I’ll be curious to sample Current TV, Al Gore’s network, which promises a “unique team of young citizen reporters, along side its seasoned team of Vanguard Journalists.” I don’t know what those are, but I’m hoping they wear uniforms. Sexy ones!

By the way, what’s your favorite channel for political (or other) news right now? Or do you have better things to do?
