The Morning After: Twistin' the Night Away

Family obligations, The Wire Watch and general laziness have prevented me from doing a full-scale Friday Night Lights Watch, but it’s good to have it back, and in form. On the negative side: a twister? Also, while the unraveling of Riggins’ redemption in Coach Taylor’s eyes, the way it happened–the mistaken-identity twist as he chivalrously tried to put a drunk Julie to bed–was something you could see coming like, well, a twister on the horizon. On the positive: spectacular night for Taylor Kitsch, who makes Riggins ache with thwarted, misunderstood decency. And Kyle Chandler was heroic in the locker-room confrontation, not just in throwing the opposing coach against the wall after going too far, but also Taylor’s spot-on follow-up–“Shut up,” to one of his own smirking players. I want to have Eric Taylor’s baby.

In other news, I’ve watched like 18 hours of presidential debates this weekend and yet (or therefore) and too burned out to comment right now, but feel free to pile on last night’s Ron-Paul-exclude-a-palooza on Fox News yesterday, or anything else.
