The good news: Joss Whedon has a seven-episode deal to make a new series, starring Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Faith).

The bad news: it will be on Fox, the same people who brought you, then immediately started doing their damnedest to un-bring you, Firefly.

Let’s savor the good news for now, though, shall we? The series, Dollhouse, is a sci-fi serial about a group of young people working for an organization–its nature and purpose aren’t yet clear–that wipes their memories clean and reprograms them before sending them on assignments. The “Dollhouse,” says zap2it.com, is the “lab/dorm” the “dolls” live in between missions. Dushku plays a doll who begins recovering memories and seeks to find out who she really is.

Let the unreasonably high expectations and premature pessimism begin! In the meantime, you may want to go ahead and register savedollhouse.com.
