This past summer, I wrote, then wrote some more, about NBC’s plans to devote a week of programming, November 4-10, to episodes of its shows with environmental themes. I pretty much exhausted my supply of cheap Deal or No Deal jokes then, so I’m just going to recycle a few highlights from the press release. 100% not made up!

…While in the past, Dan educates a stunned cab driver on the wonders of recycling…

…’Green’ surprises are in store as contestants are challenged to accurately sing the lyrics to popular songs that touch on this subject matter…

…Meanwhile, Crews’ dream about solar panels prompts him to want to buy a solar farm…

SPECIAL GUEST STARS OSCAR AND NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNER AL GORE, MEREDITH VIEIRA, AND DAVID SCHWIMMER JOIN IN ON ’30 ROCK’S’ GREEN INITIATIVE — As part of a GE-wide green initiative, Jack (Alec Baldwin) has come up with the idea of creating a green mascot for NBC — a “Phillie Phanatic” -looking character named Greenzo…

KERMIT THE FROG GUEST-STARS AS ‘DEAL OR NO DEAL’ GOES ‘GREEN’ Mandel rid[es] a cruiser bike into the studio with the 26 models, all in dresses made from army surplus parachutes, on bikes behind him! Then Keisha Brown from Jacksonville, Arkansas returns to finish her game and Danny Pecoraro of Brooklyn, New York has a surprise supporter when Kermit the Frog joins his support bench…

I kid NBC, but who knows? Sometimes daffy command performances result in the most creative work. (Seriously, I bet 30 Rock knocks it out of the pesticide-free park.)We’ll see how it shakes out during Green Week itself, when I’ll blog some of the results. And I promise to expend 33% less energy than usual writing my reviews. To save Mother Earth!
