Message re: The Medium

The New York Times’ erudite and funny TV/online-media critic and The Hills booster Virginia Heffernan has a new blog, or a new version of her old blog. The Medium is the new iteration of her blog Screens, which was one of the best things out there critiquing anything involving little pictures that move. (I’ll update my blogroll link soon, a process that I believe involves sending in a form by mail.) It comes accompanied by a new weekly column of the same name in the NYT Sunday magazine, and a schmancy TV-in-a-circle logo that looks like it was designed by John Monad. Don’t miss it.

For Richard and Mildred Loving, their marriage was a pretty simple matter. They grew up in a small Virginia town where everyone pretty much knew everyone, fell in love (not without some obstacles; she found him “arrogant” at first) and got hitched.

For the enforcers of Virginia’s anti-miscegenation laws, their marriage was also a simple matter: Richard was white and Mildred was black.
