The Morning After: Murder, You Wrote

I was really looking forward to this show, because I love women and I love murder and, while I don’t LOVE clubs, I don’t dislike them either. I figured this show was a can’t-miss proposition.

Well, it missed.

Time for my weekly praise session for Friday Night Lights. Let’s go to the highlights:

- Connie Britton. Seriously, Emmy voters – WHAT were you THINKING? They should just close nominations for Best Actress, because Britton in this season’s first TWO episodes has won the award. She’s SOOOO phenomenal.

- The Matt-Julie breakup. Arguably the most “real” breakup I’ve ever seen on television – no high drama, and you can tell Julie’s heart is still somewhat devoted to Matt, but they’re in high school. In other words, they make mistakes, fall in and out of love quickly, and in general don’t necessarily stay together.

- Lyla and Riggins. Awesome chemistry, and Riggin’s hidden heart of gold came out when helping Lyla with Buddy.

- Tyra and Landry. Lots of controversy to this storyline, but the tone of Friday’s episode got back to FNL’s standards. And I have a feeling the repercussions will be quite real for this storyline.

- Landry’s dad is AGENT PIERCE? Awesome! (Coincidentally, could the two of them look any MORE like father and son?)

This show just screams excellence. Looks like the ratings slipped a little bit, but hopefully it’s staying strong enough for NBC to keep it on the air on Friday nights. I know I’ll keep tuning in…

I was trying to give Moonlight a chance, I really was…vampire PI? You mean like Angel? Can’t miss…well, live and learn I suppose. I plan on giving it another week to improve, but I may keep it on my record list just to watch the train wreck at full speed.

I didn’t even watch the whole pilot of Moonlight. It was horrible!

Women’s Murder Club was definitely disappointing! I will check out another episode and then decide if I’m giving up or not.

I watched Womens Murder Club for relationship reasons. It had many, many flaws, but the worst one was when the writers attempted to inject a personal side to the characters, which went something like this:

Character 1: We must catch this killer! It’s urgent!
Character 2: I agree, it’s our top priority!
Character 1: So, are you getting back together with Tom?

A bit jarring.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, Life Is Wild is ungood. It’s Little House on the Prairie with the Olesons as the protagonists.
