Who’s afraid of YouTube? Viacom may be, but not Her Majesty’s broadcasters. The BBC has just announced a deal to launch three channels on YouTube, which will carry BBC news, documentaries and clips and video diaries from programs including Doctor Who. The broadcaster says it has worked out a revenue deal with the video site, a sticking point for American companies that have been feuding with it publicly.

The BBC is state-funded, of course, so it has different imperatives from media conglomerates, but as a broadcaster it has the same interest in making sure the sun never sets on its empire. I can’t wait to see lonelyqueen15.
